The President Invites Relatives of Attacked Guard Soldiers to the White House
President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the White House.
He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Event
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Memorials across the state have been held in their honor.
Presidential Offer
The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed the press. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Reaction
Mourners assembled over the past few days at the high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to assist law enforcement in Washington DC.
Honoring the Soldier
“She was the kind of student that instructors wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the media. “She was kind, caring and always eager to support those in need.”
Funeral plans for Sarah are still being arranged.
Judicial Steps and Policy Changes
Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The event prompted the administration to pause asylum processing and halt granting entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor the governor mentioned on a news program.
Attorney general Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to the family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with honor, per the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” the governor informed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
