New Particulars Surface Regarding the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced about the shocking demises of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
A Alarm
As detailed in an account quoting a confidential source, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the residence. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
When she went into the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Following this, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now being held and denied bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family also disputed several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
Furthermore refuted published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation also extends to descriptions of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Details
According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts indicated the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
