The beloved police drama AC-12 will make a comeback for its seventh season, confirmed by the BBC.
An upcoming six-episode season created by the show's creator starts production in Belfast in the coming months, according to the production team.
Vicky McClure expressed excitement about the comeback, stating she was "so excited" about the show's renewal. Her co-star remarked, "What a joy it is to know that the main trio will be reuniting together next year."
The last season concluded in recent years with a finale that attracted more than 17 million viewers. Speculation about a potential return have been circulating ever since, but official word only arrived this week.
Fresh Obstacles for The Team
The seventh season will open with the anti-corruption unit no longer existing and renamed as the Inspectorate of Police Standards, according to the announcement.
Steve Arnott, Kate Fleming, and Adrian Dunbar's part remain working to combat corruption within the police force.
The team's mission "faces unprecedented challenges", and in this climate, these officers are assigned their "most delicate case so far."

A new character, DI Dominic Gough, described as a charismatic officer known for takedowns of organized crime, is accused of abusing his position to become a offender.
However, this investigation might serve as a deliberate distraction from a bigger threat still operating in the background, the teaser hinted.
Speaking about the renewal, Jed Mercurio commented: "All cast and crew are deeply thankful to the show's fans."
"We're privileged to have had countless followers watch the developments of AC-12 over multiple series and we are thrilled to be coming back for a new installment."
Mercurio continued: "Corruption in this country is supposed to have ended while the series was off air, so I've been compelled to use my creativity."
