French and British Warplanes Target Below-Ground ISIS Weapons Store in the Syrian Desert
In a coordinated military action, aircraft from Britain and France have targeted an underground complex in Syria reportedly occupied by IS.
Particulars of the Combined Operation
The operation took place on Saturday night in a rugged, mountainous area near the historic city of the city of Palmyra.
Guided bombs were utilized to destroy the access tunnels leading to the facility.
“Preliminary assessments show the objective was successfully hit,” stated a defence ministry release.
Aircraft and Assets
Eurofighter Typhoon fighter aircraft performed the bombing mission, supported by a Voyager air-to-air aerial refuelling aircraft to provide mid-air refuelling.
Nature of the Target
The subterranean complex is believed to have been employed as the warehousing of explosives and armaments.
The military confirmed the adjacent region was absent of civilian presence at the time of the strike.

The UK's defence chief stated the nation's determination to act in unison with international partners” in order to prevent any comeback” of Islamic State.
