Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Group
Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to go next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group reach areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners tables.
Fans can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
